Believe in Jesus
If you believe (trust) that Jesus is the only way to God and that He died in your place for your sins & rose again defeating death you are SAVED! "John 3:16 tells us that "God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life." This means you! You now will never be separated from God or the family of God! You are saved from hell and are guaranteed a place in heaven for all of eternity! On top of that, you get to experience life with Jesus here on earth until then! You have entered into a permanent relationship with Jesus! We are sure there are many questions that you may still have and we would love to connect with you about them! But we want to go over some really important things for you to know here and now:
You are part of the family of God
Because of your trust in Jesus, you are now part of the family of God forever! John 1:12 says, "Yet to all who did receive Him, to those who believed in His name, He gave the right to become children of God". You now have a forever family and are held in the hands of God. That's the most secure place ever. In fact Jesus told us this when he said in John 1:28 "I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; no one will snatch them out of my hands." What an amazing gift! Since we can't earn our way into a relationship with God, once we have it we can't lose it or give it away either - you are eternally secure with Jesus! Take a moment to rejoice in that peace and permanency today!
You are completely forgiven
Romans 8:1 says that "there is no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus." You are completely forgiven. Everything mistake (sin) you've ever made in the past, present and future is nailed to the cross and you are free from that burden! 2 Corinthians 5:17 says, "Therefore if anyone is in Christ, this person is a new creation; the old things passed away; behold, new things have come." Again, this is you! YOU are a new creation! All of your sin is forgiven! You are free!
What do I do now?
Gather with believers
One of the greatest ways to grow in your faith is to continue attending Church to learn, grow, and worship God. In addition, we think getting into a smaller group of people can really help you as well to ask question and experience family-like relationships! In fact, the very first Church gathered every day! We may not be able to do that, but we still think you should click here to check out our small groups! You can also contact Pastor Crisman:
READ the Bible
God's primary way of speaking to us is through the Bible. That makes the Bible absolutely essential to your new life with Jesus! There are plenty of ways to study scripture. We recommend clicking here to download the Bible App for your phone. Or just open the Bible to the book of John and start reading a paragraph per day!
Prayer might sound weird at first, but it is simply you have a conversation with God. One of the best ways to grow in prayer is to ask someone who's been a Christian for a long time how they pray. We also think some of the Bible Reading Plans on the Bible App mentioned above can be helpful with this. Below is a simple 3-step mental process to help your prayers as you begin praying to God:
1. Pray to God by thanking Him for being awesome! Sample prayer: "God, you are amazing! I can't imagine how great You are, but I wanted to take a moment and thank You for being in charge. You are my King!"
2. Pray for you. You may even need to ask for forgiveness for something you've done wrong. You can never lose your relationship with Jesus, but without daily staying on track you can lose the "closeness" of a growing relationship with Him. That's why daily forgiveness is so important. Sample Prayer: "God, it's so easy for me to lose sight of You in my daily life. Forgive me for this and for other things I've done wrong since last time we talked. I ask You to keep me on track in my relationship with You so that I can grow closer to you always."
3. Pray for others. This can be for your family, friends, and anyone in the world. It is important to pray for others just as much, if not more than we pray for ourselves! God's heart is for us to love Him and love others. Sample Prayer: "God, I lift up my family to you. I pray for their specific needs. I pray for my neighbors to see You in my life & believe in You as their Savior. Amen."
Consider getting baptized
The Bible is full of examples of when people believed in Jesus they then got baptized. Baptism is a way to publicly tell others that you believe in Jesus as your Savior. Click here to learn more about baptism. Interested in getting baptized? Contact Pastor Crisman:
Who can you tell about this?
We know it can seem intimidating to tell others about Jesus, but getting started early by sharing with someone today that you've placed your faith in Jesus will help you grow in a big way! If they don't know Jesus, don't be surprised if they don't understand why you believe in Jesus. Just start praying for God to show them what you've found! Even Jesus faced opposition during His time on earth!
We'd love to hear from you!
You've just made the greatest decision of your life! We would love to hear from you, celebrate with you, and answer any questions you may have!
